KwaZulu Hemp Association (KHA) was founded in 2023 by a group of corporate, traditional & commercial farmers, industry manufacturers, consumer suppliers and academic and government stakeholders, as a non-profit Cannabis Hemp industry representative body.
The cannabis industry in South Africa is diverse, with many products and services already available, whether illegal of partially legal, already emerging at a remarkably high standard in most cases.
Industrial use Cannabis or Hemp, CBD products and low THC cannabis markets, cosmetics etc are less regulated and produced by licenced Hemp growers.
High THC growers and product manufacturers and distributors are regulated in terms of SAHPRA and South African Pharmaceutical standards, and the supply chain is already in effect.
The potential opportunities across many sectors exist, but are not yet formalized, both with direct cannabis business and spin off industry.
Growers and agricultural cannabis sector, formal and traditional growers
Pharmaceutical and health product manufacturers, distribution within SAHPRA frameworks
Responsible adult use or recreational use, private clubs and craft growers
